It's fully compliant with the USB 1.1 specification, using USB adaptive mode for playback and USB asynchronous mode for audio recording applications. Its optical TOSLINK inputs and outputs as well as S/PDIF inputs give it plenty of gusto to act as a convenient digital audio to USB interface as well standard line level analog audio / USB conversion tool.
